Design elements
Asymmetrical layouts were often used to keep the book visually interesting. The subtle use of graphical elements such as grey bars or circles were used to bring visual balance while not drawing unwanted attention.
Typographical hierarchy was created for headings, content and introducing characters.
The opening pages were designed to give context to the reader, with images giving the reader a sense of arriving at the refugee camp.
Various page styles were designed. These could be dived into inspirational-magazine-style, informative background content and personal stories.
The ending spread of the book is designed to lead the reader to a call-to-action. In essence, the reader has to opportunity to continue the story…
